THE BEST THING THAT CAN EVER HAPPEN TO YOU FOR BEING NICE
Best thing that happened to me |
I moved into an apartment at 24 and the couple next door were noise maker and after couple of weeks i confronted them and told them that they were loud and would appreciate if they were a little quiet. my job was a midnight shift kind of job and so i would sleep in the day time against the night.
When i went to this couples house a woman of about 68 and i explained who i was but i was surprised when she asked me if i had come to complain over the noise which i gladly said yes. this woman said they had to shout aloud so they could hear each other as they were going deaf due to old age. she made me come in, gave me a warm welcome and offered me some refreshment and soon we started talking about other things.
about 30 minutes later there was a very loud bang which i thought came from the kitchen, we immediately rushed towards the kitchen and what we saw was a pity episode. her husband had collapsed and was no longer breathing. She in a hurry called the emergency rescue team 911 while I CPR on him. not to long an ambulance and fire fighters arrived the scene of the event and as at then i had done my best and the man was back up. there were really excited when they saw me bring that man back to life and asked me several question such like '' where have you worked for, how experienced in this'' so many questions but i was not able to answer all. they took info and statement about me and the incident and i immediately rushed home to sleep because of the night shift. i woke up around 8pm and prepared for work, but before i left i checked this couple to see how they were doing but they were not around. the next day when i came back from work i found a note on my apartment door from the lady asking me to come over. when i got to her house she presented me a delicious meal and begged me to drive her to he hospital saying a police officer drove her home because she was very tired and exhausted.
I had no option and drove her as she requested. sooner we got to he hospital and i followed her to his room and on meeting this man he was fully alive and was in a decent shape. He thanked me for the kind gestures and said if it was not for me he would maybe be dead by now. this made our friendship grew much more than anticipated. and ever since then after i became comfortable with their noise because knowing fully well the problem that made them shout.
10 years later i got a phone call from an attorney in Kentucky asing me to come to his office. i was wondering why he said i should come so i went the next day and at my arrival, the lawyer asked me if i knew a couple by their names and when he mentioned the couple it happened to be those couple i had helped a decade ago. he then told me that they ere both dead and was hired by their children to find me and he included me among his will. a $25.000 was handled over to me which i refused to accept and told him to give it to their kids. the lawyer asked me if i would like to see the children because they wanted to than me personally for saving their dad's life years back and also for not comlaining about their noise again.
i met the family and the two children who were of my age and they introduced me to their kids and since then we have been good friends. they later moved to my arae shortly because their parent had an apartment that was on rent and now they want to live in it.
i was happy i never took that money the most important thing is our friendship remained really strong after then after even unto this.
What is the best thing that has ever happened to you?
